CD Production has started. For those who will pledge after April 12, your name will be placed on the Farewell Fair Weather website instead of the EP. :) Farewell Fair Weather was formed on January 20, 2012 initially consisting of vocals, keys, guitars, drums, and cello. A bassist and a lead guitarist were added to the band in June, owing to the need to add depth to their songs. It was also then that the eventual leaving of the cellist and first drummer became inevitable. Mic Manalo fronts the band and considers it as her "happy avenue," a stress reliever and a form of diversion from classical music. Mic and her bandmates Gani Palabyab (keys), Ethan Muriel (bass), Tim Odulio (drums), and Kim Hue Jin (guitar) are full-time students at the University of Santo Tomas (Four of which happen to be from the Conservatory of Music). Farewell Fair Weather's music displays its members' diverse influences, namely rock, gospel music, soul, jazz, and funk. Inspired by Toe, Incognito, and jazz artist, Esperanza Spalding, the band has remarkably produced soul/experimental, all-original compositions since the founding. Farewell Fair Weather expresses gratitude to Japo Anareta of Paranoid City. Japo is a music enthusiast whom the members met in one their gigs and has been a staunch supporter of the band ever since.
Farewell Fair Weather has made numerous appearances in indie music scenes through invitations by several independent productions. As their first year anniversary approaches, the band’s target milestone is to release its first EP by January of next year. To make this possible, the band needs financial help in recording and producing its EP. Farewell Fair Weather hopes to record 5 songs, all original.
So despite what its name suggests, let’s bid the overcast skies goodbye and welcome a fair weather to Farewell Fair Weather. Friends, supporters, kind-hearted strangers, and all music appreciators out there, you know that great talents never disappoint. Please support Farewell Fair Weather in releasing its first EP by January 2013. Thank you all so much!
