Project Description

“Racing with Legends”

News Update: We're extending the funding period for "Racing with Legends" to May of 2013.

A Documentary

The Philippines and Asia have a rich motorsports heritage the story of which must be told by those who were there before the memories fade.

The Philippines was one of the most prestigious motor racing destinations in the region. Well known international race car drivers and established racing teams would flock to the Philippines to participate in highly regarded motor racing events such as the Manila Grand Prix, Greenhills Grand Prix, and The Gedol Great Philippine Rally among many others.

For the first time ever, this documentary not only attempts to show the great racing events that transpired during the Golden Age of Philippine motorsports, but it also strives to tell the pioneering story of the Filipino race car drivers and organizers who have greatly contributed to the country's rich motor racing heritage. We interview racing legends Paquito Ventura, Dante Silverio, Louie Camus, Mandy Eduque, and several others to gain an in depth view of motor racing in the Philippines back in the 60's and 70's as well as show an intimate never before documented talk about their successful international racing careers.

This one hour long documentary is sure to excite and inform not only the racing enthusiasts, but also people who are keen to “relive” the era when the Philippines was at its Golden Age.

Profile of the Filmmakers

Steven M. Flor: Director and Editor

Steven Flor’s filmmaking career chose him at an early age when he fell in love with the 8mm film camera his father gave him as a toddler. From that point on in Steven’s life, film remained a personal hobby and passion. After earning his business degree, Steven chose to formally pursue his dreams by studying film at the International Academy of Film and Television in 2006.
