Sunflower Day Camp are Dems Mendoza (vox/guitars), Migs Hernan (vox/bass)
and Paolo Roxas (drums). They were college mates in San Beda College and
was formed in the summer of 2003. Inspired by punk ska and reggae music,
they infused playful and poetic lyrics and created their own brand spanking music.
Also known as SDC in the underground scene. They dreamed of hitting it big
so the band decided to join various band competitions.
The band won the 2004 Goodyear Eagle F1 battle of the bands in which their
song “Goodyear all the way” was chosen to be the theme song of the company.
They were also the Grand Champion of the 2005 Red Horse Muziklaban
Rock Challenge. In 2006, SDC represented the Philippines in the Global Battle
of the Bands which was held in Hong Kong.
When the band won in Muziklaban, Sunflower
Day Camp was able to create their debut album
“Attack of the Horns” in September of 2006,
with their first single “Pano Na Yan” that reached
4th in NU 107’s Stairway to seven. They toured
different parts of the country to promote the album and released their music
video "Panaginip" in Myx.
Due to creative differences, the 7 piece
band members parted ways in 2008 but
were still tight and would want to continue
exploring new and exciting music.
Fastforward to 2013: The band is in the process of writing and recording their
second album and creating their music video for the first single on the second
album. They already recorded 8 songs but would need to raise funds to launch
and finish the album at the soonest possible time. Please help us create good
music once again. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Peace!
